ASUS ROG OC Showdown Series – Competition for Enthusiast & Extreme Overclockers

ASUS Republic Of Gamers is organising a 3-round competition series in 2015 to please both the extreme overclockers and the enthusiasts.

The ROG OC Showdown will feature the Extreme Series to please everyone loving to play with sub-zero cooling (ln2, phase change, dry ice) and the Formula Series to please the mass of overclockers without the fear of condensation (Air & Watercooling).

 

This scheme will allow people on air and watercooling to compete within each others, while the Extreme users will be able to throw liters of liquid nitrogen on their gears.

ASUS ROG in co-operating with HWBOT.org to host this competition along with sponsors such as Intel®, G.Skill, Enermax and der8auer Extreme Cooling Components (8ECC) for the Extreme Series and  Intel, HyperX® and Enermax for the Formula Series.

ROG OC Showdown 2015 Series

All theses partners will allow ASUS to throw some nice giveaway to the contestant and the winners of each rounds, the first round (Extreme & Formula) is already featuring USD $8,500 in prize value (combined) ! The details have not been announced yet but be sure the check out the competition pages for the Extreme and Formula Series for more information.

Extreme Series – Round 1

ROG OC Showdown 2015 begins with the subzero Extreme series. If you live to crank up the gigahertz with dry ice, liquid nitrogen or any other cooling apparatus to keep the core below 0ºC, then this is the one for you. Extreme series round one runs from January 30 through to March 2, 2015. You’ll need an ASUS/ROG/TUF Z97 or X99 motherboard (and ASUS/ROG/TUF graphics card, for 3D benchmarks) and bucketloads of super-cooling nous.

The round 1 of the extreme series is featuring stages with Cinebench R11.5, a challenge in XTU at 5.5Ghz Max frequency and 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme.

Formula Series – Round 1

 ROG OC Showdown 2015 Formula Series is made for the enthusiast overclockers that use air and water cooling to run their system. Formula Series Round 1 runs from March 6 through April 6, 2015. You’ll need an ASUS/ROG/TUF Z87 or Z97 motherboard (and ASUS/ROG/TUF graphics card, for 3D benchmarks) to participate to this competition.

This round will see stages in XTU, a target MaxxMem Read Bandwidth and Catzilla 720P.
