A look at the Overclocking records on Z77 platform backed this week

For those of you that receive PRs from vendors or simply closely follow the overclocking competition, you may have notices that this week was particularly significant in records achieved by pro overclockers on Z77 platform.

ASRock Z77 OC Forumla – Nick Shih

First up, ASRock. It’s no news that Nick Shih is working for ASRock since now nine months and things are actually getting better for ASRocks overclocking motherboards to which Nick without doubt added his personal touch.

Yesterday, during a liquid helium (-250 C) overclocking session Nick beat the crap out of his CPU and simply achieved a new frequency record on 3770K CPU running it at a frequency of 7,13 GHz!

The score was achieved on ASRocks Z77 OC Formula motherboard which is today’s top of the notch motherboard for overclocking that ASRock has. Impressive!

Gigabyte Z77 UP7 Motherboard – Mad Tse

Second up is Gigabyte and Hong Kong’s top pro overclocker Mad Tse (we recommend you to read his interview). Mad222 achieved “to do the impossible and took one of the toughest word records you can get in 2D Ivy Bridge” says Dino from Gigabyte. Indeed, Mad222 took the Pifast world record using a 3770K under a heavy load of ln2 (-196 C).

Note that the previous record was achieved with liquid helium, signifying how much the board and Mad’s talent made a difference over the cooling.

Mad222 used the Gigabyte Z77-UP7 motherboard that has the particularity of having a 32phase power design under the Ultra Durable 5 seal and several other OC features onboard.

The answer is yes. Yes because this is not over and never will be. We love to see our favorite overclocker keep pushing the limits further everyday. So keep pushing it guys!
