MSI is announcing a new addition to their Lightning series, ATi’s 5870. This is the first ATi chip to be used in the Lightning series. The voltage regulation for the GPU and memory has been beefed up considerably, 12 phases for the GPU and 3 phases for the memory. Power is fed by two 8-pin connectors and everything is cooled by their Twin Frozr II. With this type of improved voltage regulation and use of higher end components, hopefully it will clock like the first card in this series, the 260 and 275 GTX. If so, this card just may end up at the top of the hill.
You can see more pictures of the card from MSI’s display at CES 2010 in our HD 5870 Lightning at CES 2010 gallery.
